Uji City is located between Kyoto and Nara, boasting an excellent location with easy access to both Kyoto and Osaka. The Uji River flows through the center of the city, surrounded by a scenic natural environment. It is a city blessed with rich history and culture, home to numerous shrines and temples, including the World Heritage sites Byodoin Temple and Ujigami Shrine.
As the setting for the "Uji Chapters" of the classic novel The Tale of Genji and a city closely associated with its author, Murasaki Shikibu, Uji actively shares the charms of its history, culture, and tourism. Its local specialty, "Uji Tea," is widely known as a premium tea, and recently, sweets made with Uji Matcha have also gained tremendous popularity.

At the Uji City booth, we will be selling merchandise and displaying character panels for the anime "Sound! Euphonium," which is set in Uji. Furthermore, we will be screening "Uji Has a Story," a promotional video produced by Kyoto Animation that highlights Uji's deep connection to Murasaki Shikibu. Please be sure to stop by!

In Uji City, the setting for the anime "Sound! Euphonium," we are collaborating with local businesses to promote tourism through the series by hosting events such as character panel displays and a digital stamp rally that takes you to various real-life locations.
Additionally, Kyoto Animation produced our promotional video, "Uji Has a Story"—highlighting Uji's connection to Murasaki Shikibu—along with a key visual that beautifully captures the city's scenic landscapes. Please search for "うじには物語がある" (Uji Has a Story) and check it out!
