Kyoto City is a world-class tourist city that attracts tourists from Japan and abroad with its long history of more than 1,000 years, including temples and shrines that comprise the World Heritage Site “Ancient Capital of Kyoto. The city is also working to promote the content industry, such as manga and animation, by making the most of its characteristics as a “manufacturing city” that has linked the skills and sensitivities of its artisans to the creation of new industries.
Kyoto International Manga Museum
A cultural facility that collects, stores, and exhibits manga materials based on research into manga culture. The retro atmosphere of the renovated old elementary school provides unlimited access to approximately 50,000 manga titles. Visitors can enjoy all day long special exhibitions and lectures on manga, as well as a café with illustrations and autographs covering the walls.
