Ishinomaki City is deeply rooted in manga culture and actively promotes "city planning through manga." The core facility for this initiative is the "Ishinomori Manga Museum" (Ishinomori Manga-kan), which opened in 2001. Along the "Ishinomaki Manga Road" stretching from JR Ishinomaki Station to the museum, you'll find character monuments from Shotaro Ishinomori's works, allowing you to immerse yourself in the world of manga as you stroll through the town.
Furthermore, the "Mangattan Liner," a manga-wrapped train, operates between Sendai and Ishinomaki, meaning you can experience the charm of manga even on your way to the city. For sightseeing, we highly recommend visiting "Tashirojima" (Cat Island) to meet adorable cats, and "Hiyoriyama Park," a renowned cherry blossom spot offering panoramic views of Ishinomaki and the ocean. Discover the charm of Ishinomaki, the City of Manga! At the Ishinomaki City booth, we'll be sharing plenty of tourism information about the area. Plus, Ishinomori Manga-kan, one of Japan's largest manga museums, will also have an exhibition! On Sunday, November 8th, Ishinomaki's local hero, 'Sea Jetter Kaito,' is scheduled to make a special appearance! Be sure to drop by the Ishinomaki City booth!
Ishinomori Manga Museum
Manga Museum of Shotaro Ishinomori, a manga artist from Miyagi Prefecture. Visitors can enjoy exhibits of Ishinomori’s works such as “Cyborg 009” and “Masked Rider”. There are exhibits of rare original drawings, a Masked Rider attraction, and a video hall where visitors can enjoy completely original works that can only be seen here.
